Hello all!

am starting to look at building a new server with CentOS 7 and wondering whether I should compile the kernel module or just use the userspace tools and the delivered module ? would welcome others experiences please.

Thanks, P.

I am working on a patch to support centos7 kernel. I will send it out
today or tomorrow.

Thanks,
Pravin.

Pravin, has the patch for RHEL/CentOS 7 been released ? would it be best to use GIT for OVS 2.3.0 on these distros ? Thanks.

I've been using the kernel version provided with CentOS7 with OVS
userspace from
http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/openstack/openstack-icehouse/epel-7/

I have an issue with mac learning that I haven't been able to resolve
yet (thread just recently on ML) but otherwise it seems to be working
fine.

Chris

Good morning,

Built RPM via Git release, 2.3.90, last night and it passed all tests which is great :) The problem I have now is that when I try and install the package it says:

Error: Package: openvswitch-2.3.90-1.x86_64 (/openvswitch-2.3.90-1.x86_64)
Requires: openvswitch-kmod

I read elsewhere that somebody did the following to remove the dependency:

sed 's/openvswitch-kmod, //g' openvswitch-2.3.90/rhel/openvswitch.spec > openvswitch-2.3.90/rhel/openvswitch_no_kmod.spec

is that the correct method or have I missed a step somewhere else ?

Thanks, P.

Used the sed command and that worked a treat. Have OVS 2.3.90 running on CentOS 7.

Guru, do you think that we should remove this dependency from the
packaging now that pretty much any in-use kernel will have the module
built in? It sounds like it would make life easier for users.
